Interested in collaborating on a literature review?
Join the CTE SoTL Collaborative Writing Group (SCWG) to collaboratively conduct and publish a scoping literature review on a teaching and learning related topic!
What is this group?
A Collaborative Writing Group (CWG) is an intentional and collegial space for a group of faculty across the University to engage through a shared writing/research project.
What is SoTL?
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) focuses on systematic inquiry into teaching and/or learning, producing scholarship and academic writing that is shared at educational conferences and published in journals such as Teaching & Learning Inquiry.
What will you do as a member of this CTE CapU SCWG?
- Grow professionally as a mentor and a mentee.
- Build your expertise (and resume) as a SoTL scholar.
- Network and connect in community.
- Collaboratively explore a teaching and learning related topic and its impact on student learning at CapU through a scoping literature review that summarizes existing research on our selected topic.
- Based on the findings from the literature review, the group may decide to embark on a second phase of conducting a collaborative SoTL research project including data collection on teaching and learning at CapU.
Guided by the collective experiences and interests of the group, the initial meetings will collaboratively:
- Develop a research question drawing upon current teaching and learning experience.
- Research, discuss, and develop suitable method for the scoping review.
- Establish collective supports to ensure each group member can thrive.
Time commitment:
Initial meetings in October/November 2025 will be one hour online every two weeks scheduled at a time convenient to group members. After the initial meetings, the group decides how and when to meet and work on the project including the need for scheduled collaborative writing sessions and individual work time. Our aim is to accommodate different schedules and working preferences, while supporting each other along the way in delivering a collaborative project.
Faculty interested in this collaboration should communicate their interest using this form
