We will discuss the motives and principles of SoTL, consider how SoTL can inform your teaching practice, and explore how you can incorporate a scholarly lens to your practice. As participant in this 24-hour series, you will also have an opportunity to work through the practicalities of mounting a SoTL project from conceiving a research question, considering ethics and identifying funding opportunities to collecting data, conducting analyses and dessimenating your work.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the key characteristics of SoTL
  • Critically examine current scholarship in teaching and learning
  • Develop a SoTL research question arising from own teaching experience or discipline
  • Identify SoTL research strategies
  • Understand the SoTL research process from conceptualization to dissemination
  • Conduct a literature review based on a SoTL question
  • Disseminate literature review
