Microsoft Teams

For collaborative projects and teamwork, MS Teams can be a useful platform for teaching and file sharing. It also includes a videoconferencing tool which can be used for synchronous meetings. Some departments use MS Teams as their primary course site. You will need to set up a Team and invite your class into it in order to connect with them. To access Teams, sign into your Windows 365 account.

This video will give you a quick introduction to using Teams at Capilano University for live and recorded sessions.

To invite students to your Teams site, first create the site and then use code Term-CourseCode-Section (e.g., 202130-NABU470-66) It should appear in a drop down list to be selected and when you click on Add it will send an invite to the students. If a student signs up late for the course they will have to be manually added. *Note that when referring to the term, 10 is the code for Spring, 20 is Summer and 30 is the Fall term. So the Spring term of 2023 would be 202310.

Put a link to the Team on your course eLearn page and let students know that they should email you so if they need to be added to the Teams site.
