The Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE) fosters excellence, innovation, and collaboration in teaching and learning by supporting faculty and staff through programming, mentoring, professional development opportunities, and research on effective teaching practices for student learning. Through symposiums, workshops, consultations and other resources, CTE staff help faculty with a wide variety of activities including:
- Developing rubrics
- Decolonizing and indigenizing curriculum
- Creating learning activities in and outside of class
- Designing active learning strategies
- Ensuring curricular alignment (assignments, activities and learning outcomes)
- Building classroom community
- Using formative feedback and assessment
- Integrating technology into your teaching
As a new faculty member at the university, you will receive feedback on your teaching from your students, a coordinator (or chair) and your colleagues. This process is integral to documenting your success as an instructor as well as offering support and guidance for continued growth.
