Student Appeals

A student may disagree with the instructor’s determination or remedy.  The student’s options are:

• Under Section 2.4.4 of the S2017-05 Academic Integrity Procedure, the student may dispute the infraction or the proposed remedy. This can be done through the Office of Student Affairs who then communicates same to the instructor and the dean and within five (5) business days.

If a student disputes the proposed remedy the following process is undertaken, per the S2017-05 Academic Integrity Procedure:

• • The dean may meet with the student.
  • The dean, Office of Student Affairs and the instructor will work together to formulate a response to the student.
  • The dean will provide a response in writing to the student within five (5) business days.
  • This determination will be considered final, and a copy provided to the Office of Student Affairs.

• Under Section 8.1, of the S2017-05 Academic Integrity Procedure, appeals will not be accepted when related to an instructor, remedies as outlined in Section 2.4.1 or collaborative sanctions.

• Under Section 8.2 of the S2017-05 Academic Integrity Procedure, appeals of the Academic Integrity Policy are made under B.109 Student Appeals Policy

• Under Section 10.1 of the S2017-05 Academic Integrity Policy, a student has the right to appeal the determination of academic infraction and/or the severity of the sanction to the Senate Student Appeals Committee.
