Mary Giovannetti, PhD (she/her/hers)

Dr. Mary Giovannetti currently teaches cross-cultural business and organizational behaviour in the School of Business at Capilano University while also serving as a Faculty Associate at the Centre for Teaching Excellence.

 

Mary holds a Ph.D. in Education from Simon Fraser University.  Her love of teaching and mentorship of faculty were instrumental in her developing and facilitating Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) at Capilano University, which encourage faculty from diverse disciplines to come together to deepen their knowledge of and expertise in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. She has facilitated FLCs entitled Teaching and Learning with Engagement, The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, The Reflective Practitioner, Making Thinking Visible, and more recently, Teacher as Researcher.

 

Mary has presented teaching and learning strategies at the New Faculty Orientation and at numerous workshops she has given on this topic to the university community over many years. Mary also serves as a mentor to new, mid-career, and senior faculty and assists with curriculum planning, teaching and learning activities, presentations, challenging classroom situations, etc.

 

Mary holds a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instructional Design from Simon Fraser University, and an Education degree in business from Mount Saint Vincent University. 

 

Mary has led executive training workshops in Canada, presented at national and international conferences, and has worked as an educational consultant in Canada and abroad. 

 

Capilano University is named after Chief Joe Capilano, an important leader of the Squamish (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh) Nation of the Coast Salish people.
