Alyssa Hamer

Alyssa Hamer (MASLIS, University of British Columbia 2017) is a settler-Canadian who is grateful to call the unceded territories of the Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations on the North Shore home. With a background in library and archival studies, and experience in the non-profit, GLAM, and post-secondary sectors, Alyssa brings a passion for education, information, and access to her work. As a curriculum developer, Alyssa is driven to create classroom and online materials that are student-centered and build on learners’ existing knowledge. Alyssa is a certified facilitator of Instructional Skills Workshops, and is currently completing the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program through Vancouver Community College. Alyssa is excited for this opportunity to support the expansion of Open Education practices across the University.

Capilano University is named after Chief Joe Capilano, an important leader of the Squamish (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh) Nation of the Coast Salish people. We respectfully acknowledge that our campuses are located on the unceded sovereign Indigenous Nations of Lil’wat, xʷməθkʷəy̓əm(Musqueam), Shíshálh (Sechelt), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh(Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh).
