DESCRIPTION:Dr. Mary Giovannetti\, Faculty Associate\, Centre for Teaching Excellence\, will be leading a faculty learning community (FLC) starting in February\, entitled Teacher as Researcher.\nAre you interested in and excited about engaging in developing a research question based on your students’ learning or your teaching?\nPerhaps you developed a particular assignment or project or tried a new teaching approach that you would be interested in investigating. Together we will learn about the role of teacher as researcher\, explore key articles on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)\, and support each other as we move forward to develop a teaching and learning inquiry based on our teaching practices.\nThe FLC will be stimulating\, collaborative\, and fun! Meet colleagues from a variety of disciplines who share your interest in this topic! You will be guaranteed a positive learning environment\, the opportunity to meet and learn from colleagues\, and\, not to be overlooked\, some very good food!\nThe FLC starts from 1 – 3 p.m. in the CTE FR402.

DESCRIPTION:Join them for the 2019 Cascadia Open Education Summit (replacing the BC Open Textbook Summit in 2019)\, in beautiful Vancouver\, B.C. on April 17 & 18\, 2019. This event is co-hosted with our regional colleagues; Lumen Learning\, Open Oregon Educational Resources\, and the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC). This event is for new and experienced OER advocates offering the opportunity to learn and share effective practices in awareness building\, implementation\, collaboration\, strategy\, and research. \nEvent details:\nDay 1 will include 2 keynotes and conference proceedings with presentations\, panel presentations\, and table talks.\n\nDay 2 is our Day of Action Focused OER Workshops. A series of workshops will be presented (2 hours each) and is intended for people looking for support in achieving the next step in their OER work or initiative. \nKeynotes:\nHeather M.
