DESCRIPTION:This one-day orientation is intended for faculty new to Capilano University. \nParticipants will work with members of the Centre for Teaching Excellence to learn more about the student body unique to CapU and its campuses\, and the instructional strategies that serve their needs. Participants will also engage in sessions from the Library\, Human Resources\, and the Capilano Faculty Association. \nBy the end of this orientation\, you will be able to: \n\nidentify key partners to your career at CapU;\nidentify what makes CapU students unique;\nrecognize the importance of CapU’s commitment to reconciliation and Indigenization;\nselect active learning and learner-centered strategies to use in your classroom;\nalign course content to in-class evaluation strategies;\nset-up your course(s) on eLearn (CapU’s Learning Management System) site;\nidentify existing course resources and research services with area Librarians;\nidentify the processes and components of teaching evaluations.\n\nOffering April 2023: \nTuesday\, April 259:00 AM – 3:00 PMLB321In-person \nCoffee\, tea\, snacks\, and lunch will be provided.
