SUMMARY:Intercultural Pedagogy and Learning - 2022
DESCRIPTION:This facilitated workshop series provides faculty with the background pedagogy on culturally relevant pedagogy and inclusiveness teaching practices to support all learners. \nBy the end of this intensive workshop\, participants will: \n\nreflect on the relationship between Uncertainty\, Risk\, and Fear in teaching (pedagogy/practices) and learning.\nexplain the historical development of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy (CRP) and Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRsP).\ninterrogate the practicalities of the three foundational tenants of CRP/CRsP in classroom practices (academic achievement\, cultural competence\, socio-political consciousness).\nutilize the language of equity\, diversity\, positionality\, intersectionality\, inclusion\, decolonization\, indigenization\, and pedagogy\, in their own practice.\ndiscuss and reflect upon case study/scenarios representative of common course/class challenges related to 1) Physical\, Cognitive\, and Perceived ability\, 2) Gender\, Sexuality\, and Identity\, 3) Race\, Culture\, and Language\, and 4) Colonization\, Decolonization\, and Indigenization.\nutilize concepts and experiences from this workshop to begin developing a “positionality statement” for their course syllabi\, classroom practices\, teaching portfolio\, etc.\n\nJune 13 (Mon) to June 17 (Fri)\n9 AM – 3 PM\nSynchronous\, face-to-face\, in-person \nTo successfully complete this workshop\, participants are required to take part in ALL face-to-face/synchronous sessions (approximately 15 hours)\, with a further commitment (approximately 9 hours minimum) for independent preparation and reflective activities.  \nSign up now!
