DESCRIPTION:Looking for inspiration\, reflection and dialogue on your teaching this Fall?\nWant to connect with some of your amazing colleagues at CapU? \nJoin us for Open Classroom Weeks!\nSign up now to get notified once the complete list of open classes is published. \nOpen Classroom Weeks are two weeks which a set of classes will be ‘open’ for you to visit. Open classes will be a mix of in-person\, online asynchronous and synchronous. Visit one or all to see what others are doing and what can be learned for your own teaching. We will start and close with optional live Zoom sessions to set expectations and to reflect on what we learned. Expect to gain new insights and ideas into teaching and learning to add to your teaching repertoire. \nTime commitment: Up to you depending on how many classes you decide to join. There are in-person classes\,  synchronous classes (set times) and asynchronous classes (no set time). \nKick-Off: Monday\, March 7\, 9am-10am\nWrap-Up Friday\, March 18\, 1:30pm -2:30pm\n(Participation in the kick-off and the wrap-up is recommended\, but not required.) \nSign up as a participants or an instructor now! \n

DESCRIPTION:March 8\, 10:00am – 11:20am\, Blended Delivery\n\nDo you ever think that grades may reduce your students’ interest in learning itself? \nOr perhaps you dread the day you have to pass a somewhat subjective judgement on the students you have otherwise worked hard to build a trusting relationship with? \nWhile it may be challenging to get completely rid of grades\, or to “Ungrade” (Blum\, S. 2020)\, there are many alternative practices\, we can employ to start focusing our own and our students’ attention more on teaching and learning than on grading. Join us as we explore specific alternative grading practices including their potential to ensure more equitable or meaningful learning experiences\, encourage more risk-taking\, consider student (and teacher) wellbeing and build better relationships with students. \nLearning outcomes:\n\n1) Identify at least one reason why you want to consider an alternative approach to grading\n2) Choose an alternative grading approach you will implement/try for a course this fall\n3) Share and receive feedback (in triads) on how you will apply this alternative grading approach \nSign up now! \n
