Congratulations to Dr. Sarah Yercich, from the Faculty of Arts in Sciences, the first ever recipient from CapU of the West Coast Teaching Excellence Award. Sarah is the Convenor of Women and Gender Studies at CapU as well as teaching in the Sociology and Criminology departments. She is also Co-Director of The FREDA Centre for Research on Violence Against Women and Children.

Dr. Yercich is recognized for her innovative approaches to curriculum delivery, including her use of student-led learning, collaborative learning assignments, gamification, and real-world experiential learning opportunities, as well as her investment in community-based projects.

The Award is given by the BC Teaching and Learning Council, a community of leaders from the public post-secondary institutions in B.C. and the Yukon.
